Teeth Cleaning and Dental Hygiene

Having a clean mouth and sparkling teeth isn’t only aesthetically pleasing, but it can also greatly improve your oral health by lowering your risks of harmful conditions like gum disease. At V Smile Family Dental, we offer professional teeth cleaning services and other treatment plans that can optimize your oral health by working with your dental hygiene.

Proper dental hygiene is arguably the most important tool anyone can have to maintain good oral health, but it is much more than brushing twice a day. It also means understanding how hard working your mouth is: from your teeth helping you chew, your tongue helping you speak, to smiles helping you express yourself.

With this understanding, it is important to pay attention to your oral health needs, noticing any changes or sensitivity to both the hard and soft tissue of your mouth. That is why you need to add regularly scheduled dental exams to your dental hygiene routine, one every six months!

If you or a loved one are due for a dental exam or are curious about what a professional tooth cleaning can do for your oral health, don’t hesitate! Contact our office today and schedule a consultation. We are available over the phone, by email, or by scheduling an appointment online.

Making a Healthy Smile at V Smile Family Dental

Creating a healthy smile has never been easier for the residents of Frisco, TX, thanks to their friends at V Smile Family Dental! Our practice incorporates state-of-the-art dental technology with scientifically proven oral health techniques for a healthy smile that can’t be beat. Thanks to this winning combination, you won’t just feel the improvement, we will be able to see it!

How? That’s all thanks to the advanced technology available to us when offering our dental health scans, an imaging process that allows us to track your oral health like never before with results that will leave you smiling!

What Is a Dental Health Scan?

When you come to our practice, you can expect several qualities that set us apart from others: an inviting office, friendly staff, personable professionals, and, of course, a facility that houses some of the most impressive technology on the market today.

When you get a dental health scan, we will be utilizing this technology to create a 3D image of your mouth using different devices from intra-oral cameras to digital x-rays. The data from these devices will be fed into a specialized program that focuses on oral health, creating a digital scan of your mouth which will help us decide how to improve, maintain, and optimize your dental care.

When Should My Kids Start Visiting the Dentist?

This is a great question and one that we get asked a lot as a family practice. Many parents bring their children to the dentist for their first visit around ages three or four and are surprised to discover their children are already suffering from cavities.

You see, even at that young age, they should have seen the dentist much sooner. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry suggests parents schedule their child’s first dental exam around the same time their children’s teeth first begin to emerge. In fact, our teeth are so vulnerable at younger ages, before we can properly care for our own teeth, that “baby bottle tooth decay” (cavities that develop before a child can eat solid foods) is a very real concern.

If you are curious whether your children are ready for their first dental visit or it is about time for their next dental exam, consider getting in contact with our office. We can be reached over the phone, by email, or online. We even have a new patient form available online if you or a loved one are visiting for the first time.

Dental Hygiene, Regular Cleanings, and More

A healthy, sparkling smile that you are happy to share with the world is a wonderful goal to have. But it is also a goal that takes work, discovering a good dental hygiene routine that meets your specific oral health needs. After all, being proactive in your health is the greatest way to promote positive well-being!

Here are just a few steps you can take to ensure your dental care is being properly maintained:

  • Be sure to brush at least twice a day.
  • When brushing, use soft, circular motions so the bristles won’t irritate or agitate your gums.
  • Use fluoride toothpaste to replenish vital minerals.
  • Don’t rinse immediately after brushing, but wait a few minutes or this may cause dry mouth.
  • Floss at least once a day to remove buildup and lower the risk of tartar or plaque (other options like water picks are fine as well).
  • If an “unclean” feeling persists in your mouth, consider a professional teeth whitening treatment.
  • Be sure to get a routine dental exam, one every six months. This helps monitor your oral health and allows preventative care to resolve any dental issues before they become major problems.
